Every detail is important: the villas were built with wood imported from New Zealand (1 cut tree replanted equals 2). Water is pumped into the sea and desalinated. Plastic bottles are banned. All food scraps are systematically recovered and turn them into fertilizer that is used in the garden. Solar panels provide 80% of electricity needs by day. As for coal, it comes from construction waste or driftwood. Here, the waste is seen as a resource.
The most amazing is the cave with mushrooms, a real Aladdin’s cave. Hundreds of plastic log house of sawdust packed. The very gently misted. In three weeks, mushrooms come out and ensure the supply of the hotel.
A Soneva by total withdrawal from any form of civilization is therefore undertaking a course of slow life: pressed juices galore, fish in all its forms: raw, as ceviche a la plancha, ginger or even lemon thyme …

Is the effect of sustainable? End of the world? Only 200 islands are inhabited in 1200 on account that the Maldives. Soneva is fierce. This atoll is not tame leaves overnight. Gradually, the island reveals its secrets.
